Piano and Cello teacher in Los Angeles

Rufus Bordal is a pianist who believes that music as an art form is unique in its emotive power. Rufus understands that music can truly connect people. He started lessons at the age of 4, playing guitar with a hat that held his harmonica. Later Rufus moved on to piano and cello at the age of 6. It was here with the piano that he found his true passion.

After many years of private lessons, Rufus was accepted to USC where he is currently in his last year at USC’s Thornton School of Music, studying Piano Performance and minoring in Jazz Studies. He is an accomplished soloist and collaborator with various symphonies, orchestras, and jazz groups.

He has performed with the USC Student Symphony, Pasadena Community Orchestra, and the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony Orchestra. Rufus has found a new love in jazz music and has performed with his piano quintet in the Paris Conservatory Masterclass Exchange. Rufus has also composed and recorded the score to the animated short film “Dog Days” made by his friend Bruce Debiasse. In 2019, Rufus performed Rhapsody in Blue with the Santa Monica High School Wind Ensemble in Rome and at Royce Hall. Rufus also has performed in Argentina, Uruguay, and New York. Among all his performances, Rufus believes in giving back to the community. Rufus volunteers his time playing at convalescent homes.

If you're searching for a piano teacher near me, Rufus is your teacher. He is a very sympathetic teacher. He immediately connects with his students by asking questions and getting to know them and their goals.  He speaks "kid." He knows with the right encouragement his students can accomplish anything. His students range in age from 3 to adults diving into their jazz studies.

Join Rufus at our group classes, private lessons, and summer camps. Did you wake up asking "where is a piano teacher near me?" Search no further.
